– Gary Lofberg passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
    Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend John Golv and Reverend Ale Tulu Officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls following the meal.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
    Gary Paul Lofberg was born on April 18, 1938 at home in Deerwood Township, Kittson County, the son of Nels Arthur Lofberg and Aileen May Hanna (Nelson) Lofberg.
    He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church, Karlstad.
    Gary attended school through the eighth grade. Following that he was a farmhand for area farmers near Sherack. He married Arlene Claire Vanous on November 18, 1958, moved to Wisconsin and worked at EST Company in Grafton.  To this union four children were born, William, John, Sonna, and Treva.       
    Gary was united in marriage to Mary Ann Didier on December 14, 1968 in Port Washington, WI. To this union three children were born, Quincy, Kim, and Paul.  
    Gary returned to Thief River Falls and worked as a welder at Arctic Enterprises from 1971 until it closed. He was employed in Rugby, ND between jobs until Arctic reopened, retiring in 2001 as a lead person in the welding department. After retirement he worked as a custodian at Walmart and then at Digi-Key Corporation until June, 2012.  
    Gary enjoyed fishing, attending grandchildren’s activities, and traveling. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Gary loved working in the outdoors whether it was putting up Christmas lights, gardening, or just working in the garage. He could always strike up a conversation with anyone and enjoyed a good visit with family and friends. Gary loved reading about history, current and sporting events. He became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in 1975.
    Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Thief River Falls; children: Quincy (Jan) Lofberg, Fargo, ND, Kim (Lee) Genereux, Thief River Falls, Paul (Rhonda) Lofberg, Newfolden, William Marsland, Auburn, WA, John (Patricia) Marsland, Goodyear, AZ, and Sonna Marsland, Louisville, KY; sisters:  Patricia (Edward) Stokke, Woodbridge, VA, and Marlys (Francis) Anderson, Thief River Falls; brothers: Brian (Corrine) Lofberg, and Michael (Michele) Lofberg, both of Fox Lake, WI; sister-in-law Janice Lofberg, Gilby, ND; grandchildren: Kelsie Lofberg, Tyson (Tiffany Stroh), Brittani, and Blair Panek, Tayler (Ben) Thorstad, and Lindsey (Shawn Lerol) Genereux, Paige and Devin Lofberg; four great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter Treva (Marsland) Superak, parents, three brothers:  Rodney, Duane and Neil; sister-in-law Elaine Lofberg, niece Sandy Lofberg and nephew Darnell Lofberg.
