Shirley was born in Milaca in 1922, and grew up in Ogilvie and Minneapolis. Shirley had a sense of adventure and after retirement, traveled to many countries and states, learned how to swim and took up golf. She was also a ruthless card player and enjoyed bridge to her last day – literally.
