St. Paul – Knutson, Shirley Aileen (Ohman), age 95, residing at Lyngblomsten’s in St Paul, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully Tuesday July 18.
Memorial services were held at Neman Benson Chapel in Saint Paul on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Shirley was born in Milaca in 1922, and grew up in Ogilvie and Minneapolis. Shirley met her husband, Clarence, shortly after the war. They married in 1948 and lived a railroad career with the Soo Line moving from Minneapolis to Drake, Bismarck, Thief River Falls, then with three kids, back to the Twin Cities.
Shirley’s clever mind and dry sense of humor were enjoyed by many. She was a home maker for many years but also worked at McQuay, FHA, and Social Security. Shirley had a sense of adventure and after retirement, traveled to many countries and states, learned how to swim and took up golf. She was also a ruthless card player and enjoyed bridge to her last day – literally.
She is survived by daughter, Susan; son, Craig (Kathy); daughter-in law, Donna; grandchildren, David, Eric (Megan), Kristian, and Conor; great-granddaughter, Ruthie.         Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph and Maude Ohman; husband, Clarence; son, Douglas; sisters, Lucille, Mariel, and Harriett.
