Thief River Falls – Sharon Bonaime, 76, of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND with her loving family at her side.
    Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert presiding.  
    Sharon Marlys LaFriniere was born February 1, 1941 in Mahnomen, the daughter of Theodore and Lillian (Enmark) LaFriniere. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith in Mahnomen. She attended school in Mahnomen where she grew to adulthood.
    In 1958, Sharon was united in marriage to Bernard Buchholz and to this union two children were born, Tamara and Perry. They made their home Thief River Falls and for a short time in Detroit Lakes.  
    In Thief River Falls, Sharon worked for the Nursery School for many years.  
    On October 16, 1980, Sharon was united in marriage to Sydney Bonaime in South Dakota. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and spent weekends at their cabin at Long Point on Lake Of The Woods.  
    In 1982, she started with the Thief River Falls School District as a cook at Franklin School and later at Challenger Elementary School where she retired from in 2003. She liked cooking and visiting with the children as they came through the line. Sharon also worked at the Fountain Of Jewels during this time.  
    Sharon enjoyed summer and winter fishing, playing bingo, playing cards, and going to the Heritage Center and participating in the activities there, especially aerobics. In past years, she also liked spending time with her flower and vegetable gardens, and in her later years enjoyed telling Syd how to care for her flowers.
    Survivors include loving husband, Syd of Thief River Falls; daughter, Tami (Doug) Copley of Cushing; four grandchildren, Cody (Carrie) Buchholz, Lindsey (J.J. Burris) Copley, Jason (Tara) Copley and Josie Copley; seven great-grandchildren; Kaylee, Brayden, Jazzlyn, Jiles, Presley, Braxton, Broden; sister, Lois Larson of Beaver Bay; and many other relatives and friends.
    She is preceded in death by her son, Perry in 1977; parents; siblings, Muriel Mercil, James LaFriniere, Phyllis Waite, Audrey LaVoy, Joey Simonson, Mike LaFriniere.
    Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Center in Thief River Falls.
    Condolences may be sent at
