    Thief River Falls – Dale Comstock, of Thief River Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
    A gathering time for family and friends was held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.  
    Dale Wayne Comstock was born April 1, 1952 in Thief River Falls, the son of Howard and Delpha (Anderson) Comstock. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. He attended Knox Elementary, Franklin Middle School and graduated Lincoln High School all in Thief River Falls.
    Dale was proud to have served his country as a Marine. He entered the service at Camp Pendleton, CA on May 14, 1973 and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1978. During his service, he received the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Frame, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Mast.
    In 1971, Dale was united in marriage to Laurel Reagan. To this union 3 daughters were born: Jennifer, Mandy and Christi.  They lived in Cove, OR. In 1980, Dale returned to Thief River Falls.
    Dale met Fay Johnson and to this union two daughters, Melissa and Megan, were born.
    In July 1999, Dale met Dianne Gilbertson and they have been together ever since.
    Dale worked as an over the road trucker for over 1,000,000 miles, then went into construction and worked throughout Minnesota, Iowa and North Dakota, including on the Old Arena roof in Thief River Falls and he also worked at the Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND.
    Dale enjoyed wood-working, fishing and hunting in his earlier years. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Waskish.  Dale was a life member of VFW Post 2793 where he had served as Past District Commander from 2010-2011, a member of American Legion Post 117, Elks, serving as Past Exalted Ruler, and a member of Cooties.  He helped military honors for hundreds of fellow veterans.
    Survivors include daughters, Jennifer, Mandy, Christi, Melissa and Megan; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brothers and sister, Dennis, Daryl, Arden and Sandy and special friend Dianne Gilbertson.
    Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the VFW Post 2793 of Thief River Falls.
