    Thief River Falls – Gary Engstrom, 70, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
    Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment will follow at Melo Lutheran Cemetery in Angus.
    Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren, as well as one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Military honors will be presented by the Warren American Legion Post #27.
    Gary Wayne Engstrom was born on October 22, 1946 in Warren, the son of William and Evelyn (Morberg) Engstrom. He was raised in the Angus area and graduated from Warren High School in 1964.
    Gary served in the US Air Force during Vietnam. Gary married Violet Hagman on December 20, 1969 and they made their home in Thief River Falls. He worked for Lampert Lumber for several years until he went to work for the US Postal Service as a mailman.
    Gary retired in 2013. Violet died on July 3, 2013. He was a member of the Melo Lutheran Church and Warren American Legion Post #27.
    Gary enjoyed camping, doing handyman work, working with cars and especially spending time with family.
    Left to mourn his passing are his three children, Veronica Miller of Thief River Falls, Gary (Jessie) Engstrom of Bagley and Steve (Melissa) Engstrom of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Dakota Miller, David Miller, Shawn Miller, Lauren Trent, Michael Krans, David Krans, Jordan (Cory) Hagen, Jacob Engstrom, Abbie Engstrom and Darren Engstrom; sisters, LaVonne (Bruce) Seaverson of Middle River, and Maureen (Chuck) Greentree of Kawkawliln, MI; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Elaine Hollis and Elaine's daughter and grandchildren, Lori (Aaron) Ecker and Logan Meyer, Emma Ecker, Owen Ecker and Noah Ecker.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn and wife, Violet.
