Roger Lee Blaine was born on July 19, 1951 in Thief River Falls, the son of Alvin and Theresa (Nesland) Blaine. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church (Grace Lutheran Church) in Grygla. He attended Grygla Elementary School and graduated from Goodridge High School with the class of 1969. Following high school, Roger worked various jobs trucking and farming.
On April 30, 1973, Roger was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gwen Ann Sunsdahl in Rosholt, SD. In the fall of 1974, the couple purchased a farm in Moylan Township of Marshall County. To this union three children were born: Brandon and infants, Bridget and Baby Girl Blaine.
Through the years, Roger cleared and cleaned up his land to make it the farm it is today with the help of his father-in-law, Orvin. The farm grew in 1981 when Roger rented land near Grygla from his uncles, Ole and Targie Nesland. In 1990 Roger started farming his dad’s land just south of Grygla and later purchased it. The Blaine Farm grew various crops, but mainly small grains.
Roger was an avid bowler who has bowled two 300’s, most recently on March 8, 2017 while he was fighting his battle with cancer. He also loved going to auction sales with his buddies, deer hunting with his good friend, Arlen and son Brandon, snowcatting and 4-wheeling.  Roger enjoyed visiting, sharing a story and a joke or two.
Roger was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge.
