    Northfield – Yvonne LaMae Ode passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, at the age of 78.
    A funeral service was held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield.  Interment will be at a later date at Mickinock Cemetery in Wannaska.
    Yvonne LaMae Oslund Ode was born May 24, 1939 in Wannaska, to Jens and Nannie (Erickson) Oslund.  She was baptized and confirmed at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska. Yvonne was raised on the family farm, attended grade school in Wannaska and graduated from Roseau High School in 1957. She received her teaching certificate and taught at Haug Leo rural school.  
    On June 26, 1960 Yvonne married Marvin Ode at Riverside Lutheran Church.  After marriage, they lived in Embarrass and later Roseau before moving to Thief River Falls in 1970. She worked many years at Annette’s Fabrics in Thief River Falls. For several years, she also served as the coordinator for Big Brother/Big Sister of Pennington County.
    Yvonne was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was active in choir, circle, as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, and was a regular volunteer for whatever was needed. She served with Girl Scouts, Big Brother/Big Sister Program, and was a leader in the St. Hilaire Lions Club.
    After moving to Northfield in 2010, Yvonne became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she remained active with choir, circle, quilting, missions and Lutheran World Relief. 
    Yvonne was a member of the Cannon Valley Lions Club and Northfield Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered for many community events. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, being outdoors, attending events, and spending time with family and friends. 
    Yvonne was a true servant of God. She loved being involved, was giving of her time and talents, and always helped those she could. She will be greatly missed.
    Survivors include her daughters: Dawn Carey of Moorhead, Carla Ode-Parish of Allen, TX, Brenda Doll of Louisville, KY; 5 grandchildren: Sydney Carey, Thomas Carey, Paige Parish, Alissa Doll and Carley Doll; sister, Marilyn DeSanto; brothers: James (Pat) Oslund, Gary (Jill) Oslund; her sister-in-law Marion Oslund; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Robert and Layton Oslund, and her parents.
