    Thief River Falls – Eileen Horejsh Larson, 89, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, with her family by her side.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Voelker officiating.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
    Eileen Lavern Grochow was born April 30, 1928 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of William and Ethel (Pechie) Grochow. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and at the age of three she moved with her family to rural Argyle (Alma Township) and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Radium.
    Eileen attended the Carlson School in Alma Township and graduated from Argyle High School in 1946. After high school, she returned to Thief River Falls and lived with her grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth Pechie.
    Eileen first worked at the Montgomery Ward store, then at Ben Franklin. On June 20, 1949, Eileen was united in marriage to Joseph Horejsh at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Radium. They made their home in Thief River Falls.
    Eileen worked at the Motor Vehicle Department for Charlie Richards and later for Silas and Marge Hanson, also with the Motor Vehicle Department. Eventually, Eileen was transferred to the Motor Vehicle Department at the Pennington County Courthouse. Joseph died of cancer on November 20, 1991 and Eileen retired in 1993.
    In 1997, after more than 50 years, Eileen became reacquainted with Kenneth L. Larson from East Grand Forks. They were married at Bethany Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, on January 15, 2007 and made their home in Esther Township, 15 miles from East Grand Forks. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church. Kenneth died on March 2, 2010 of pancreatic cancer.
    On April 30, 2010, Eileen made her home at Summerfield Place in Thief River Falls. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and also a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crafts, jewelry, Christmas, and visiting with family and friends.
    Survivors include Eileen’s four brothers: Leo Grochow of Cloquet, Donald (Shirley) Grochow of Thief River Falls, Carroll (Sandra) Grochow of Newport, Willis (Janice) Grochow of Warren; godchildren: Scott Grochow of Thief River Falls and Linda LaBine of Warren; several nieces and nephews; Kenneth and Barbara Larson’s children, Cheryel Larson, Terry (Toni) Larson, Keith (Sandi) Larson, Richard (Kathy) Larson, Kathy (Larson) Odom, Kent (Nancy) Larson and Ron (Donna) Larson and their families.
    Eileen is preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Horejsh and Kenneth Larson; brothers, Donald’s twin, George Grochow and William “Bill” Grochow; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Grochow, Lenora Grochow, and Barbara Grochow.
