    Goodridge – DeWein Lappegaard, 97, of Goodridge, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at his residence in Goodridge.
    Funeral service to celebrate DeWein’s life was held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.   Burial was at the Goodridge Community Cemetery.
    DeWein Albert Lappegaard was born on December 15, 1919 near Rosewood in Pennington County, the son of Albert and Hazel (Rye) Lappegaard. He attended country school and worked on the family farm.
    On December 23, 1940, DeWein was united in marriage to Alice Olson and to this union eight children were born: Jerome, Louann, Arlene, Ramona, Mary Ann, Darla, Dale and Daniel. The family lived on the farm near Rosewood for a time before moving into Thief River Falls.
    On November 5, 1961, DeWein was united in marriage to Mary Couglin and to this union Marcella and Duane were born.
    In 1983, DeWein and his companion, Sandra Larson welcomed a daughter Samantha to the family.
    DeWein worked as a heavy duty machine operator and mechanic throughout North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Along with many road construction projects, he helped build the crooked road from Thief River Falls to Plummer.
    DeWein enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, pull tabs, camping and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the 49ers Union.
    Survivors include seven children: Louann (Charles) Kiesow, Arlene Bjerke, Ramona (David) Burczyk, Darla (Larry) Schermer, Marcella (Wayne) Fairbanks, Duane Joseph Lappegaard, Samantha (Wayne) Lappegaard; daughters-in-law, Christy Lappegaard and Jody Lappegaard; 31 grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mayme Lappegaard; and a very special person, Sandra Larson; and many other relatives and friends.
    DeWein is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Alice and Mary; children, Jerome, Mary Ann (Greg) Weyer, Dale, Danny; son-in-law, Duane Bjerke; step-children, Patricia (Wally) Heaton and Kathy Rekow; grandchildren, Rodney Heaton, Rick Heaton, Peggy Bjerke; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ila (Archie) Lull, Marcella (Leonard) Bottom; and brother, Virgil “Sonny” Lappegaard.
