Two men have been arrested after they allegedly entered a St. Hilaire home and assaulted two men Monday morning.
Guadalupe Francisco Peralta, 27, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for first degree burglary, aggravated robbery, second degree assault and third degree assault, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. James Richard Shaugabay, 26, St. Hilaire, has charges pending for being a felon convicted of a crime of violence.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 9:23 a.m. Monday regarding a group of people assaulting two men  at a St. Hilaire mobile home court, according to Sheriff Ray Kuznia. The caller said one victim was bleeding and laying in the yard. The two men went to Sanford Medical Center, where they were treated and released. Kuznia said a real gun, a fake gun and another tool were used in the assaults.
Search warrants were later executed for Shaugabay’s rural St. Hilaire home and shed. Kuznia said law enforcement seized a vehicle believed to be involved in the assault.
Kuznia said there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing. More arrests are expected.
Besides the sheriff’s office, the Thief River Falls Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force, St. Hilaire Fire and Rescue, and Thief River Falls Area Ambulance responded to the incident.
