    Thief River Falls – Doris Venetta Skibicki, 85, Thief River Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Sanford Hospital, Thief River Falls, with her loving family by her side.
    Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Rick Lambert officiating. Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
    Doris Venetta (Sturre) Skibicki was born July 18, 1932, daughter of Herman and Doris (Phelps) Sturre at Hazel. She attended school in Thief River Falls and Portland, OR. She moved with her family to Portland while her parents worked in the ship yards during the war. They moved to the Thief River Falls area where she worked as a nanny.
    On February 6, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Stanley Skibicki Sr. in Grand Forks, ND. They made their home in Goodridge, where they raised their family. Doris worked at various places in the area.
    Doris enjoyed fishing, picking berries, circle word books, crafting, gardening, quilting, knitting, and was a collector of novelties. She won prize winning ribbons for her doll making and liked puzzles, playing piano and organ. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Ladies Aid in Goodridge.
    Doris is survived by her children: Mike (Brenda) Skibicki of Thief River Falls, Stanley (Patty) Skibicki Jr. of Goodridge, Mark (Connie) Skibicki of Langdon, ND, Sarah Weber of Thief River Falls, Myrna Jagol of Thief River Falls, Myles Skibicki of Goodridge; grandchildren: Melissa “Missy” (Gary) Peterson, Marie (John) Weets, Matthew Skibicki, Eliza (Dan) Kiviaho,  Jordan Skibicki,  Racheal Skibicki, Samantha Skibicki, Steven Weber, Amanda (Mike) Smith, Katie Weber, Christopher Jagol: great-grandchildren Haidyn, Karsyn, Rylin, Paige, Logan, Sawyer, Noah, Caleb, Abram, Annabelle, Ariel, Stormi, Vada, Jaycen, Axel, Brock, Brienne, Levi, Wyatt, Jamison, and Aryck; siblings: Marlene (Edwin) Hanson of Thief River Falls, Avis (Eugene) Frazer of Goodridge, Enzely (Phyllis) Sturre of Montana, and Curtis Sturre of Goodridge, along with several nieces and nephews.
    Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley Skibicki Sr., children Clark Skibicki, and two infant girls; siblings Burnard (Kathy) Sturre, Janice (Dennis) Hanson, Kenneth Sturre, Gerald Sturre; brothers-in-law Edwin Hanson, and Eugene Frazer.
