Idella Marie Samuelson was born September 17, 1928 in Plummer, daughter of Victor and Clara (Froiland) Medchill. She attended school at Pershing High School in Plummer, graduating in 1946. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College and received her teaching degree.
On April 6, 1956, Idella was united in marriage to Charles Samuelson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Thief River Falls where Idella taught at Knox Elementary School for nine years. She took time off to raise her family and was a substitute teacher in Thief River Falls for 16 years.
Idella was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she served on many committees including WELCA. They enjoyed traveling, and when the family was young, they traveled throughout the country with their camper. In retirement they made 8 trips to Europe and one to Australia.
Idella enjoyed finding souvenirs from each of those trips. She was an avid reader and was a member of book clubs in her retirement. Her family meant everything to her.
Idella was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a loyal friend, a loving sister, and a true hand maiden of our Lord, Jesus Christ. She dedicated her life in service to her church, furthering the Kingdom of God, and caring for her husband and family.  She touched the lives of thousands of people through her teaching and public service, and she left the world a better place through her loving kindness, limitless love and generosity.
