Lillie Ruth Langelett was born on May 16, 1922 at home in Thief River Falls, the fifth of twelve children born to August and Clara (Wesenberg) Langelett. In the spring of 1927, when Lillie was 4 years old, the family moved to a farm in Bray Township where they lived.
Lillie attended country school about four miles south of Carpenter’s Corner along the Pembina Ridge.  She helped out on the family farm. From 1945 until 1948, she attended Bible School at Northwestern College in St. Paul.
In 1938, Lillie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and lived her life according to the Bible.
On July 2, 1949, Lillie was united in marriage to Arthur Asp at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home on a farm in Numedal Township, Pennington County, where they raised their seven children: Karen, Alvin, Kenneth, Virginia, Carol, Marvin, and Harvey.  Lillie loved raising her children and spending time with them.
On the farm, they raised pigs, chickens, cattle and small grains. Lillie prided herself as a “good husband’s helper” and “keeper of the home.” She always had a big garden to help feed her family.
Lillie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thief River Falls. Through the years, she made about 80 quilts, which she lovingly shared with those in need.
In 2001, Lillie moved off of the farm to Skylite Apartments and 2014 moved to Thief River Care Center.
Survivors include her loving children, Karen (David) Gustafson, Liberal, KS, Alvin (Twyla) Asp, Thief River Falls, Kenneth (Key Teeters-Asp) Asp, Thief River Falls, Virginia (Rod) Shand, Fargo, ND, Carol (Ed) Moroney, Duluth, Marvin Asp, East Grand Forks, and Harvey Asp, Farmington; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Art (Gladys) Langelett, Crist (Norma) Langelett, Eleanor Siltman, Margaret Dawson, Evert (Betty) Langelett; and many other relatives and friends.
