    Thief River Falls – Connie Hamre, 72, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND
    Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Reverend John Golv Officiating. Burial will be held at Community Cemetery near St. Hilaire.
    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, 5–8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
    Connie Jean Hamre was born May 29, 1945 at Hallock, daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (McEwen) Moose. She grew up on a farm near Donaldson and was baptized on July 24, 1950 and confirmed in 1960 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Donaldson. She attended School in Kennedy and graduated from there on May 29, 1963. She attended the AVTI in Thief River Falls, graduating May 21, 1987 with a certificate in Secretarial Word Processing.
    On September 12, 1964, she was united in marriage to John Lewis Peoples. To this union 3 daughters were born: Linda, Amber and Katy.
    On September 3, 2009, she was united in marriage to LaVerne Hamre at their home under the apple tree with Norman and Darlene Blackstad as attendants and Reverend Ale Tulu performing the ceremony.
    Connie’s first job was at Peoples Bakery in Grafton, ND. She was a telephone operator in Grafton and worked for Pennington County Social Service from 1988 until her retirement in July of 2011.
    She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, flower gardening, baking, taking pictures, collecting cookbooks and dancing. She was a supreme garage sale shopper, enjoyed camping and attending more garage sales. She enjoyed camping at the Polk County Park with her many friends. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
    Connie was President of Zion Lutheran Church Council, a member of the Sons of Norway, Pennington County Fair Board, Library Board and Sanford Hospital Board Auxiliary and served on the board of the Thief River Concert Series. She was a facilitator for the Beginning Experience Organization.
    Connie is survived by her husband LaVerne of Thief River Falls; daughters Linda Peoples of Duluth, Amber Peoples of Portland, OR and Katy Collins of Fargo, ND: step children Tawnya (Tim) Panek of Newfolden, Kirk Hamre of Badger, Kirby (Kathy) Hamre of Reiles Acres, ND: step grandchildren Amber Robertson, Ashley Crist, Logan Hamre, Cole Hamre, Hope Zavertnik, Kris Kvick and Alex Hamre; step great-grandchildren Barrett, Korben and Cora Hamre, Owen and Kaden Kvick, August and Lincoln Zavertnik and Hailey Crist. Siblings Howard (Nancy) Henschel of Laramie, WY; Betty (James) Lessard of Edmond, OK, Harold Moose of Stephen, Mary Ann (Ron) Gold of Dickenson, ND, Myrtle (Eric) Turnquist of Wayzata, and Carol (Scott) Houser of Bismarck, ND along with several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her aunt/godparents Ordie and Warren Kinshella of San Diego, CA, aunt Elizabeth Deere of San Diego, CA, Neil (Maxine) McEwen of Mount Dora, FL.
    Connie was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Moose, father Lloyd Moose, step mother Doris Moose and infant brother John Moose.
