Cade Lundeen and Josh Bernier wrestled to individual championships while leading Thief River Falls to a fifth place team finish in the 2018 Prowler Invite Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls. 

Lundeen picked up a falls against Brock Peterson of Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale/Parkers Prairie and a 6-1 decision win over Race Knochenmus of Roseau to reach the championship match. In the finals he knocked off Dillon McGee of Walker-Hack-Akeley-Nevis by 6-4 decision in overtime. 
“Cade did a great job in the finals winning an overtime match against a pretty slick mat wrestler,” said Head Coach Kenny Geiser. “Cade also joined elite company in getting his 150th career win.” 
Bernier’s path to the finals included a win by fall over Nicholas Mutchler of Bemidji; a 10-4 decision win over Matthew Ziebell of Pelican Rapids; a win by fall over Alex Erlandson of Ottertail Central; and a 7-2 decision win over  Isaiah Thompson of Detroit Lakes. 
“Josh was impressive in getting to his offense against a very solid wrestler in the finals,” Geiser said. 
Cody Wienen added  a third place finish at 113 pounds, with a pair of falls in the consolation bracket and a 10-5 win over Hunter Hitchen of Fertile-Beltrami in the third place match. 
“Cody Wienen had a great day, getting wins over  some very tough wrestlers in a loaded bracket,” Geiser said. 
Brandon Zuniga, 120, Cole Johnson, 138, and Connor Swanson, 220, finished fourth. Kyle Miller, 170, finished fifth, and Brady Kasprick finished sixth at 113 while wrestling unattached.  
Geiser was particularly pleased with the effort of Zuniga, who dropped to 120 pounds and put together a strong tournament.  
Ottertail Central won the tournament with 162.0 team points. The Bulldogs had placewinners in all 11 weights they entered, with five wretlers finishing in the top three.  
Badger/Greenbush-Middle River finished second with 162.0 team points. Bemidji was thrid with 135.5. Detroit Lakes finished fourth at 114.5; and Thief River Falls rounded out the top five with 110.0.
