Thief River Falls – Beverly Johnson, 89, of Thief River Falls, and formerly of the Mentor area, died on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Northwest Medical Center CNC Unit in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Honorary casket bearers will be all of Beverly’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Active casket bearers will be grandsons, Keith Ostgard, Rob Ostgard, Trapper Stine, Hec Hiltabrand, Bob Johnson, Jr., Michael Johnson, Chad Sykes and Dallas Stine. Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, rural Mentor. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, March 22 (today) and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine.
Beverly May Netcher was born on April 19, 1916 in rural Greenbush, Roseau County, the only child of Arthur and Cora Netcher. She spent her early years in the Greenbush and Minot, North Dakota areas and graduated from high school in Memphis, Tenn.
She returned to Minnesota and was married to Kenneth Johnson Sr. She lived in Grand Forks, N.D., Mentor and Maple Lake. Beverly worked various jobs throughout her life in addition to raising her eight children. She retired in 1978. She lived in Oklee for several years prior to moving to Valley Home in Thief River Falls.
She enjoyed crocheting, going to the casino, pull tabs, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include seven children, Lorelee (James) Roth of Grand Forks, N.D., James (Susan) Johnson of Moreno Valley, Calif., Eileen Ostgard of Mound, Marilyn (Doug) Gruver of Carlisle, Iowa, Kittie (Bob) Stine of Trail, Bob (Sharon) Johnson of Thief River Falls, and JoLane (Herb) Hiltabrand of Mentor; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and other relatives also survive.
