LuAnn Peterson, 77 of Middle River, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side.
Funeral Service was held on Sunday October 21, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, Middle River. Burial was at Spruce Valley Cemetery, Middle River.
LuAnn June Peterson was born June 16, 1941 in Thief River Falls, daughter of Alma (Myrold) and Frank Smith. She was raised in Holt and attended school there until 8th grade, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1959. She then attended AVTI LPN Nursing school in Thief River Falls.
On March 26, 1960 LuAnn was united in marriage to Gordon Peterson in Middle River. The couple lived in the Twin Cities, where Gordon worked road construction for 7 years, before moving to the farm near Middle River where they raised 6 children. They farmed for 30 years, milking cows and raising crops. LuAnn was an active farm wife who loved animals. In the early 1980’s LuAnn started working at the Karlstad Nursing home until retiring after 18 years.
LuAnn enjoyed attending grandkids school and sporting events, she was active with her circle at First Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, good long visits over a cup of coffee and over the phone. She loved spending time visiting with family, friends and anyone that would stop and visit.
LuAnn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gordon of Middle River; children Donna Peterson (Ethel Erickson) of Brooklyn Park, Todd Peterson of Middle River, Troy (Joni) Peterson of Roseau, Trent Peterson of Middle River, Darla (Aaron) Blatz of Isanti, and Chad Peterson of Middle River; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother Ron (Shirly) Smith of Milwaukee, WI; sister Carol Benitt of Thief River Falls; brother-in-law Vern (Peggy) Peterson of Middle River; sisters-in-law Darlene (Darrell) Taie of Coon Rapids, and Carol (Bob) Hanson of Coon Rapids; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
LuAnn is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenny Smith, brothers-in-law Elroy Benitt and Earl Peterson; sister-in-law Helen Peterson.
