Ronald Haugen, 82, Goodridge, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Thief River Falls.
Funeral services for Ron was held on Tuesday, April 9 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, with Reverend Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be held at the Goodridge Cemetery in Goodridge.
Ronald Dean Haugen was born May 13, 1936 in Thief Lake, the son of Clifford and Myrtle (Johnson) Haugen. However, per Ron and the family bible he was born on May 13, 1935. He was baptized and confirmed at Thief Lake Lutheran Church. He attended school in Middle River, graduating in 1953. He started working construction for the state of Minnesota and worked for various companies through the years running heavy equipment, running a dragline, and as a crane operator. Ron was a spray pilot and enjoyed flying. He also flew for the Civil Air Patrol.
Ronald married Ordella Lorraine Dahle on April 9, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Ronald and Ordella had six children together: Rhonda, Randy, Ryan, Rory, Rodney, and Rynae.
After their marriage Ron and Ordella lived in various places around Minnesota before settling on Ordella’s home place in Goodridge in 1968, where Ron and Ordella farmed for over 30 years. He farmed and milked cows as well as sold Cargill seed.
Ron played saxophone, accordion and piano and was gifted with playing by ear. He played in various bands most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and was very meticulous with his yard. He loved hosting fish frys at the lake. Being early was a must for him and he did not tolerate anyone being late. He loved deer hunting and the first Friday night before deer opener he always hosted a family gathering. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church (he had his favorite spot at church) and was very active in church, holding various offices including president of the church. Ron was very proud to be a 49’r Union member, PCA board member, original member of the Trail Blazer Snowmobile Club, member of the Goodridge Flying Club, a member of the Lion’s Club, and a member of the Eagles club in Thief River Falls.
Ronald is survived by his children: Rhonda Downs (Randy), Randy Haugen, Ryan Haugen (Rhonda), Rory Haugen (Dawn), Rod Haugen (Angie), Rynae Harder (Jamie); grandchildren: Tabitha Johnson (Dick), Heather Barry (Brian), Alisha Walseth (Kevin), Tyler Downs (Jodee), Aereal Willhoite (Jake), Lindsay Paulson (Andy), Rozlynn Johnsrud (Brad), Jena Johnsrud (Clifton), Kensie Haugen (David Lovly), Ian Haugen, Kayla Sheppard (Cory), Tasha Haugen, Lexi Haugen, Emilee Harder, Isabella Harder; great grandchildren: Hailey, Levi and Kendall Johnson, Jesse (Bobbi Jo) and Devin Johnson, Ethan and Brody Barry, Lydia, Alexie, Averie and Jase Walseth, Kaden Colvin, Bo, Tanner, and Lauren Paulson, Jordynn, Donnie and Jennings Johnsrud, Carter Lee, Cash Johnsrud, Mateya and Aaliyah Sheppard; great-great grandchild Owen Wellman; sister Carolyn (Orin) Lee; sisters-in-law: Palma (Roger) Anderson, Pat Dahle and Joan Haugen; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ronald is preceded in death by his wife Ordella, parents Clifford and Myrtle Haugen, stepmother Clarice Haugen, brothers Dennis and Donnie Haugen, twins Claudia and DelRay Haugen, and baby Darrold Haugen, father and mother-in-law Ole Dahle and Pearl Tanner, brothers-in-law: Oliver Dahle, Erwin Dahle, Simend Dahle; sisters-in-law: Lillian Mietzel, Marilyn Dahle and Jan Dahle.
