Eleanor M.Halvorson, 90

Eleanor May Halvorson, had been in failing health for some time and passed away at Sanford Medical in Thief River Falls on Monday evening, July 22, 2019, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 16 days.
Services were held for Eleanor on Saturday, July 27 at Collins Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Karlstad Cemetery.
Eleanor May Halvorson, the daughter of the late Palmer and Mildred (Whitson) Dahl, was born on January 16, 1929, in Thief River Falls.  She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Holt community and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1950, Eleanor married Bruce Carlson at Thief River Falls and they resided there and at Red Lake Falls and Donaldson. In 1970, the family moved to Pelan Township of Kittson County near Karlstad. Bruce passed away in 1977 and Eleanor later married James Halvorson at Bethel Lutheran Church in Karlstad. They have since made their home at Karlstad. Eleanor was employed at the former Arctic Garment Plant in Karlstad, the Karlstad  Memorial Hospital and at the Karlstad Nursing Home. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bingo and especially time with her grandchildren..
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Jim; four sons: Gary (Glenda) of Karlstad, Jerry, of Thief River Falls,  Wayne, of Red Lake Falls, and Steven, of Moorhead;  three  daughters: Linda Timchuk, of Thief River Falls, Diane Carlson, of Viking, and Cheryl (Norman) Olson, of Thief River Falls; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Jerold (Beverly) Rux, of Strandquist; one sister: Lorraine Mathieu, of Thief River Falls; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce,  grandson: Troy Timchuk, and brother-in-law: Bill Mathieu.
