Betty Ann Severson, 80 of Thief River Falls, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Larry Myhrer officiating. Burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Pencer at a later date.
Betty Ann Christianson was born March 14, 1939 in Roseau, the daughter of Julius D. and Ruby A. (Lovejoy) Christianson. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Pine Grove Church, Pencer. She attended Malung Grade School and Roseau High School.
In 1957 Betty married William Rowley and to this union three sons were born, Steven, Bret, and Ardell.
Through the years, Betty worked at several sales jobs in the area including, Crookston Marine, O’Neils Wooden You Finish, and Willeys Gem and Gifts. She also worked at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks in food service until 1997 when she had ovarian cancer surgery and remained cancer free.
On December 6, 1995 she married Arne E. Severson (Retired Navy) and the couple lived in Grand Forks, ND until 2000 when they made their home in Thief River Falls.
Betty enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, puzzles, baking, camping, keeping house, especially shopping for cars, and enjoyed caring for her husband, Arne and their four dachshunds and many birds.
Survivors include Betty’s husband, Arne, Thief River Falls; sons: Steve, Rapid City, Bret (special friend, Clara), Grand Forks, ND and Ardell (Nicky), West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Michael R., Lauren, Michael L., Mykenzie, Alandra, Kristian, Michael A. II, Jessica, Alexis, and Max (Sidney who is an active duty Navy Nurse); brothers: Delbert (Norma) Christianson, Thief River Falls, Milo (Peggy) Christianson, International Falls, and Layton Christianson, Oklahoma; sister, Ione Boyd, International Falls; step-son, Michael Alan (Janet) Severson, Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; grandsons Cody and Kyle; and brother, Melvin Christianson.
