Colleen Swenson was taken to the Windom Area Hospital where she unexpectedly passed away at the age of 67 years.
Colleen Jeanette Swenson was born on July 22, 1952, in Thief River Falls, to the late Earl Chester and Elna Jeanette (Crown) Jorgensen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the Class of 1970 and then went on to nursing school in Thief River Falls where she became an LPN. She was baptized in St. Joe, Arkansas as a young adult.
On September 11, 1976, Colleen was united in marriage to Jon Leslie Swenson at the Lutheran Brethren Church in Thief River Falls. In 1981 they moved to Watford City, ND for a year and then to the Warroad area. Nearly five years ago she moved to Windom to be closer to her daughter and her family. Through the years, Colleen worked as an LPN, at the Red Owl Grocery deli counter as a clerk, was a home health aide, worked at a Christian School as a Teacher’s Assistant, and was the right hand woman for Jon’s business: “Jon’s Moving Service” even though she happened to be left handed.
Collen was a member of the Warroad and Norland Free Lutheran churches and was involved with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and a member of the women’s group. After moving to Windom, Colleen became a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom and was a member of the LWML and “Golden Age.” Colleen had many enjoyments in life which included local coffee and bingo at McDonald’s and Hardee’s in Windom, and spending time at the Windom Senior Dining and local “Bone Builders” exercise group. Colleen loved people!
Colleen is survived by her one daughter, Emmy Jean (Nathan) Wildermuth of Bingham Lake; two grandchildren, Eva Marie (8) and Daniel “Danny” Jaeger Wildermuth (5); three siblings, Don (Yvonne) Wahlbeck of Thief River Falls; Barb (Ray) Ouellette of Hermantown; Rozanne (Chuck) Lacek of Centreville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jon Swenson on June 28, 2017; two babies prior to birth; brothers, Jerry Wahlbeck and Ronald Jorgensen; sisters-in-law, Jan Wahlbeck and Delores (Swenson) Sellen; and nephew, Brent Sellen.
Blessed be the memory of Colleen Jeanette Swenson.
