Avis M. Frazer, 79

Avis Frazer, of Thief River Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Goodridge, with Father Adam Hamness celebrating. Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Avis Melvina Sturre was born April 26, 1940 in North Township, the daughter of Herman and Doris (Phelps) Sturre. She was baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Avis made her first Communion and Confirmation at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Goodridge.
Avis graduated from Goodridge High School in 1958. While in school she worked for her sister on the farm, the summer of her sophomore year, and worked for Kiefs Café. The summer of her Junior and Senior year she worked at the Veizina Café in Goodridge. Following her graduation she worked in Grand Forks at the Buckle restaurant. Following Gene’s retirement from the Army, Avis worked at the Liquor Store in Goodridge for a couple years.
Avis was united in marriage to Eugene Paul Frazer at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on October 20, 1958. They lived and raised their family wherever Gene was stationed while serving in the Army for the first years of their marriage; including Illinois, France, Germany, Arizona and Maryland. They had five children: Paul, Wayne, Kenneth, Lourenda and Brian.
Avis is survived by her four children: Paul (Teresa) Frazer of Decater, MS, Wayne (Vicky) Frazer of Oklee, Kenneth Frazer of Thief River Falls and Lourenda Colden of Goodridge; seven grandchildren: Danielle (Jason) Weleski, Tyler Colden, Haydn Frazer, Hallie Frazer, Holden Frazer, Katelyn Colden and Havanna Frazer; great grandchildren: Brooklynn, Taylor, Dawson and Allie; brother, Curtis Sturre of Oklee; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sturre; and several nieces and nephews.
Avis is preceded in death by her husband Eugene on December 23, 2011; one son, Brian Frazer in 1974; parents, Herman and Doris (Phelps) Sturre; siblings: Burnard (Kathy) Sturre, Venetta (Stanley Sr.) Skibicki, Marlene (Edvin) Hanson, Gerald (Lettie) Sturre, Janice (Dennis) Hanson, Enzely (Phyllis) Sturre and Kenneth Sturre; brothers-in-law: Stanley Skibicki Sr., Edvin Hanson, and Dennis Hanson; sisters-in-law, Kathy Sturre and Lettie Sturre.
