Annabelle Chervestad, 94, of Oklee, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Oak Park Lutheran Church rural Oklee, MN with Rev. Jeffery Merseth officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.
Annabelle Marie Tasa was born March 10, 1925 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Thomas and Sadie (Cook) Tasa. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. Annabelle attended RoseNook Country School, Lincoln High School and graduated from Oklee High School with the class of 1942. She attended Teachers Training in Thief River Falls, MN for two years and taught at Pleasant View Country School.
On August 14, 1943, Annabelle was united in marriage to Juell Chervestad at the Tasa Farm in Hickory Township. The couple lived on a farm in Deer Park Township and to this union seven children were born, Karen, Ramona, Joy, Jean, Kim, Dawn and Tami. Annabelle was a life-long farmer & homemaker with a special love for raising her children. She enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, bowling and especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Her coffee pot and cookies were always available.
Annabelle joined Oak Park Lutheran Church after her union to Juell and was active for many years with the Oak Park Ladies Aid and a Sunday School teacher. It was evident in her life that God’s Word was vital to her Christian faith, which she also instilled in her children by ensuring that they were present to hear God’s Word. As a member of the ladies aid she enjoyed the additional opportunities to hear God’s Word and with fellow Christians serve others. She was also a member of Deer Park Garden Club, Homemakers and Oklee Bowling League.
Survivors include, six children, Karen (Richard) Mathson of Panama City Beach, FL, Ramona Bush of Oklee, MN, Joy (James) Johnson of Fairmont, MN, Kim (Barb) Chervestad of Oklee, MN, Dawn (Elden) Neuschwander of Grygla, MN and Tami (James) Sparby of Grygla, MN; grandchildren: Brandon (Kristine) Mathson, Braque Mathson, Tian (Andrew) Kuehl, Tanir (Holly) Mathson, Keisha (Jacob) Bleichner, Kalane Mathson, Jenell (Mike) Xenos, Jodi (Ryan) Carreon, Jenna (Kevin) Clay, Jessica (Brett) Knudsen, Larissa (Alex) Bloedel, Brett Chervestad, Todd Chervestad, Tylor (Elizabeth) Chervestad, Dustin (Faith) Neuschwander, Courtney (Travis) Tennancour, Heath (Michelle) Neuschwander, Jordan (Joe) Mertens, Brooke (Zach) Blasky, Shane Neuschwander, Whitney Neuschwander, Kallie (Travis) Dougherty, David Sparby, Briley (Mikenzie) Sparby, Levi Sparby;
great-grandchildren, Luke, Emma, Charles, Bryson, Landyn, Paxtyn, Grayson, Kaylee, Brianna, Tristyn, Tucker, Kaed, Kielan, Kinsley, Jack, Grant, Holden, Harper, Stran, Noah, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Blake, Luca, McKenzie, Madison, Wyatt, Cameron, Thea, Payton and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juell in 2012; infant daughter, Jean; grandsons, Matthew, Mark, Josh, and Riley; parents, Thomas and Sadie Tasa; brother, Glen (Lillian) Tasa; sisters, Irene (Ingmar) Molde and Helen (Al) Waldvogel; brother-in-law, Orlando (Helen) Chervestad.
