Paul Puppe, 79, of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls with his loving family by his side.
The funeral to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Paul William Puppe was born June 1, 1940 in Grafton, ND the third of four sons born to William August and Helen (Diercks) Puppe. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. The family moved to a farm west of Thief River Falls and Paul attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating with the class of 1958.
On September 20, 1959, Paul was united in marriage to Anita Youngblood in Thief River Falls. To this union, three daughters were born: Deb, Brenda and Melissa. The family made their home in Hensel for a short time where Paul worked for an area farmer.
After settling in Thief River Falls, Paul worked at Kiewels Bottling delivering pop throughout Northwest Minnesota for many years. He later went to work at Hartz Warehouse and spent his last working years at Digi-Key before his retirement.
He enjoyed deer hunting, 4-wheeling, going to (and having) rummage sales, attending auction sales and visiting casinos. Paul had a magnetic personality with the gift of gab. He loved visiting with family, friends or strangers alike. He was a wonderful family man who would do anything for his loved ones. Paul will be deeply missed by many.
Paul loved and cherished the time spent with his daughters, who he said were more trouble now than when they were little!
Paul is survived by his daughters: Deb Altepeter (Marv Hermreck) of Thief River Falls, Brenda (Sean) Daly of Baker and Melissa Swanson of Thief River Falls; grandchildren: Erika (Bryce) Peterson, Jared Altepeter, Kieran (Kelsey) Daly, Brendan Daly, all of West Fargo, ND and Casey Swanson of Grand Forks, ND; great-grandchildren: Brylie Peterson, Grayden Peterson, Jackson Daly and Logan Daly; brother, Tom (Zeffy) Puppe of Thief River Falls; sister-in-law, Ann Puppe of Cavalier, ND; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl and Willis (Bonnie); son-in-law, Tim Altepeter.
