Frank George Cwikla of Wannaska passed away at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, on August 31, 2020 at the age of 88.
The funeral services for Frank Cwikla will be held on Wednesday, September 9, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Palmville Cemetery. Services will follow MN State Covid-19 Guidelines with distancing and face coverings.
Frank was born in Thief Lake Township of Marshall County, on December 23, 1931 to Peter and Caroline Cwikla. He attended school in Whiteford Township through 8th grade.
In 1962, Frank married Shirley Palm. Sadly, she passed away in 1994. Frank worked at Schenkey Construction and the elevator in Middle River. He also farmed with his mother. After moving to Roseau, Frank worked in parts assembly and in management at Polaris. He also farmed while Shirley worked as a teacher in Gatzke and Grygla. They moved to Wannaska and he purchased a farm there. Recently, Frank sold his farm to his lifelong friend, Danny Olson
Frank was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman who loved animals. He enjoyed having fun and telling jokes. He was a very light-hearted, fun individual but was also a very humble man who was well known and was respected by many in the area.
Frank is survived by sisters-in-law, Frances (Jesme) Cwikla and Mimi (Peterson) Cwikla; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brothers: Stanley, John, Paul, Alex and an infant brother; sisters: Rose, Mary, Pauline (Polly) and Ann; special friend, Arlene Wilcox; brothers-in-law: Joe (Rose) Burian, Victor (Mary) Taus, Ralph (Pauline) Berg and Albert (Ann) Zedlik; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Stanley) Cwikla and Ann (John) Cwikla.
