Steven Panek passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND from complications from kidney failure, surrounded by his loving family.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Pastor Luke Stavos officiating. Burial will be held at Black River Church Cemetery rural St. Hilaire. Masks are required and social distancing following MN and CDC guidelines.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Steven Gregory Panek was born February 13, 1963 in Grand Forks, ND son of Henry and Marjorie (Russell) Panek. He was raised in Silverton Township rural Thief River Falls. He attended school in Thief River Falls.
On December 22, 1984 Steven was united in marriage to Kathleen Lenore Hawkinson at Black River Church rural St. Hilaire. To this union: Jill, Paige, and Clint were born. The couple purchased a farm in Silverton Township where Steve farmed his entire life. He loved working with his Black Angus cattle, raising grain and hay. Steven always had an amazing garden when he could keep the cows out of it. He always kept his lifelong friends and treasured their company always taking time to visit.
Steve had a wild side, enjoyed motorcycles, rock and roll, and lived life on the wild side. Most of all he loved the time spent with his kids and grandkids, because he was a kid at heart. Steve believed in the Good Lord and had a strong faith which he shared with others and loved to talk about the bible.
Steven is survived by his children: Jill (Adam) Arnquist of Alexandria, Paige (Sam Harger) Panek of Thief River Falls and Clint (Jessica) Panek of Goodridge; grandchildren: Lilly, Emma, and Ava Arnquist, Kyler, Kamille, and Kooper Panek; ex-wife and friend, Kathy Panek of Goodridge; father Henry Panek of Thief River Falls; sister, Sue (Kevin) Johnson of Thief River Falls; along with nieces and nephews: Tia Panek of North Platte, NE, Joe Panek of North Platte, NE, Spencer (Lynnsie) Johnson of Moorhead and Anna Johnson of Moorhead; along with several aunts, uncles, and great-nieces and nephews.
Steven is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Panek; brother, John (Sheila) Panek; grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
