Thief River Falls – Pearl O. Johnson, 92, od Thief River Falls, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Oakland Park Communities, Thief River Falls.
Pearl Olive Peterson was born July 20, 1929 to Clarence L. and Emma (Christopherson) Peterson at her parents’ home in Silverton Township, Pennington County.  She was baptized and confirmed at Silverton Lutheran Church and attended grade school at Elwell District #28 in rural Thief River Falls.  She then attended Lincoln High School where she graduated in 1947.
On June 29, 1952 Pearl married Irwin R. Johnson at Silverton Lutheran Church and for 65 years they made their home together on their farm near Rosewood.  During this time, they were blessed with sons, Dwight, Neil and Lyle.
Her first employment was with the NW Bell Telephone Company as an operator/secretary and throughout the rest of her life, she held numerous jobs.
Pearl enjoyed reading, puzzles, concerts, and attending many sporting events in which her 3 sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling and going on cruises, including a trip to Norway and Sweden.
She was actively involved at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the New Solum 4-H Club, the Rosewood Home Study Group, Sons of Norway, Agassiz Swedish Society and served as a township election judge.  She and Irwin were long-time volunteers at the Heritage Center where they also delivered meals for many years.
Survivors include her three sons, Dwight (Bonnie) Johnson, Thief River Falls, Neil (Rose) Johnson, Boardman, OR, and Lyle Johnson, Thief River Falls; eight grandchildren, Teresa (Jonathan) Hopke, Amy (Milt) Green, Katrina (Lance) Hopka, Kristina (Steve) Wiseth, Cindy (Shawn) Edman, Brad Johnson, Chad (Lauren) Johnson, and Jace Johnson; 17 great-grandchildren, and one more on the way. She is also survived by siblings, Arnold (Marian) Peterson, Margaret Rupprecht and Carol (Roger) DeLap, Thief River Falls, and Joyce Sang, Mesa, AZ; and many other relatives and friends.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin, on September 8, 2017; her parents and two infant siblings; and sisters, Irene Johnson, Lorraine Dallmann; brothers-in-law, Ron Johnson, Warren Mosbeck, Fred Dallmann, Don Rupprecht, John Sang, and Clifton Johnson; and great-grandson, Daylon Green.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
