Dewey L. Hanson, 73, died on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND of complications from Covid-19.
Dewey Lenhart Hanson was born at home on February 12, 1948 in Roseau County, to Dewey S. and Violet (Wavra) Hanson.  The family moved to Thief River Falls where Dewey attended school and graduated in 1967.
He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969.  He returned to Thief River Falls and worked at Kiewel Products for a time, and at Arctic Cat until his retirement.
Dewey was married on August 25, 1973 at Thief River Falls and raised three sons: Elvis, Shane and Jesse.  They filled his heart with pride.
Dewey was a kind and unassuming man of faith who loved his family. He was always willing to help someone in need. He was especially known for his love of Elvis Presley’s music.  He was among Elvis’ biggest fans and was known to play his songs for hours at a time.  He was also a gifted artist, a talent he passed on to his sons.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesse; and brother, Ronnie.  He is survived by sons, Elvis (Katie) and Shane; grandson, Evan; granddaughters, Alora and Alyse; brother, Wayne (Virginia); and sister, Peggy (Robert) Nelson.
A family graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Fargo National Cemetery.
