
Gary Inglis was born on August 24, 1942 at Hallock, son of Andy and Edna (Morgan) Inglis. He was raised and attended school in Hallock, graduating in 1960. Gary attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. Shortly after that he entered the US Army and served his country stationed in Alaska. Following his honorable discharge he moved to Seattle, WA where he worked at Albertson’s. In 1970 he moved back to Kittson County where he met his future wife, Judy.
On April 27, 1974 Gary was united in marriage to Judy Vagle at Duluth. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Lake Bronson, Fosston and eventually in Thief River Falls, where they raised their family. Gary worked for Sweetheart Bakery, Metz Baking Company and later Frito Lay. He then worked for Northern Motors, Tunberg Ford, Grand Forks Herald and back to Thief River Ford, which he retired from. Post retirement he worked for Pathfinders and Hillcrest Family Services. From 1999 until 2014 they cared for many foster children.
Gary enjoyed watching stock car racing, mowing lawns, gardening, and visiting with anyone that would listen. Gary never met a stranger. Gary was proud of his 47 years of sobriety and mentoring others through AA. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling.
Gary is survived by his children, Bryan (Christy) Inglis, Brad (Chrissy) Inglis, and Mandy (Abhay) Rawal; grandchildren, Cade Inglis, Carter Inglis and Sadhana Rawal; lady friend, Jeanne Johnson; cousins, Laurel Johnson, Lyndon Johnson, Lynnae Johnson-Landin; sister-in-law, Jennifer Vagle; niece, Stacey Fougner; and nephew, Matt Vagle.
Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Judy in 2014; parents, Andy and Edna Inglis; in-laws, Grant and Edna Vagle; brother-in-law, Marshall Vagle; and nephew, Tyler Vagle.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Reverend Chadwick Persons officiating. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
