Edith Yvonne Kilen Werman Zahn was born to Alfred and Corinne (Haugen) Kilen on March 9, 1951 at Thief River Falls.
As a child she spent mucha of her time outdoors, so her love for nature developed early on and carried through her entire life.
She married Dale Werman and had four children, a daughter and three sons, whom she treasured above all else.
She graduated from Century College in White Bear Lake where she studied Human Services and Communications. She also enjoyed serving as the editor of her college newspaper. Her career life consisted of writing and conducting seminars in Human Services.
Edith always had an entrepreneurial spirit and ventured into a variety of businesses in the wellness field, including a health food store in Thief River Falls. She spent most of her life in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. She moved to Newfolden in 1997 and worked at Digi-Key.
Her hobbies included gardening, herbs, wild edibles and homesteading. Edith raised some chickens and especially loved baby goats!
Edith’s sincere desire was to help people feel valued and she had a wonderful way of imparting joy to others through loving encouragement and her kind-hearted nature. She had a beautiful soul and spread joy to others even in the midst of her battle with cancer. She was truly one-of-a-kind.
The angels escorted her home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Prior Lake. She was 70 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roger (Sharon) and Donald Kilen; and her sister, Marilyn Shalloe.
She is survived by her former spouse, Dale Werman; children, Jessica (Greg) of Prior Lake, Gabriel (Kelly Viola) of Cambridge, Daniel of Isanti and Joseph (Gina) of Thief River Falls; sister, Connie (Gene) Folden of Thief River Falls; brothers, Wayne (Shirley) Kilen of Newfolden and Joseph Kilen of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Makayla (Chris) Kolden, Mason, Kelly Marie, Jake, Haley (Blake), Corrine (Alex), Breanna, Lillian Marie, Violet, Gabriel James, Cenzio, Christine, Ann, Lola, Maiya, Miles, Lilyan Rose, Liam and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Mileigh, Isabelle, Noah Lee, Haizley, Noah David, Brantley, Everleigh, Lena and Darin.
