Dilworth – Jean Marie Baird, 93, of Dilworth, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Serenity Assisted Living of Dilworth.
Jean Marie Zachau was born January 19, 1929 in Superior, WI to the late Henry Wilbur and Veronica Josephine (Culhane) Zachau. She grew up and went to school in Cass Lake.
On August 5, 1947 she married Ralph Baird. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND and Staples, and were blessed with four children. Together they had many businesses but the ones she was most proud of were the Spud Bar, East Grand Floral, and the Laundromat in East Grand Forks, and the Staples Motel in Staples.
Jean was a businesswoman, a loving wife and mother. In retirement Ralph and Jean moved to Warroad. After Ralph’s passing in 2009, Jean moved to Dilworth where she remained until her passing.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Baird and Floyd Baird; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph; parents, Henry and Veronica; and children, Timothy Baird and Phyllis Kimbrell.
The funeral Service for Jean will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND in the Spring of 2022.
