Jeffrey Blom, 61

Thief River Falls – Jeffrey Blom, 61, of Thief River Falls,  passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 as a result of a snowmobile accident near Orr.
Jeff was born on May 8, 1960 in Jackson, to George and Marlys Blom. After Jeff graduated from Jackson High School in 1978, he went on to study Ag Business at Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute. He started his career at the St. James Elevator. While schooling and living in Mankato he met the love of his life, Delores Lamecker. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1982 in New Ulm.  Shortly after, they moved to Clear Lake,  where Jeff worked as the Manager at the Clear Lake Farmers Elevator for 6 years.
In January of 1989 Jeff and his family moved to Morris, where he was the manager of the CHS grain elevator for 8 years. The family relocated to Thief River Falls in 1997 and he took on the role of Grain Merchandiser at the St. Hilaire Grain Elevator. He held that position until the time of his passing. He knew from the age of 9 that he wanted to be a grain elevator manager. Jeff was highly successful at CHS and enjoyed many of his colleagues. He impacted the lives of everyone he talked to, whether it be farming related or fishing.
The world lost a great man, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and fishing guide. Jeff LOVED the outdoors, and he LOVED his family. Most of all he loved spending time outdoors WITH his family. He was always planning the next trip before the current one was even over. On most weekends Jeff could be found on the lake in the boat, on the ice in his shack, in the woods, or around the campfire with his wife, family, and friends, especially at Zippel Bay.
Jeff took every opportunity to befriend anyone he encountered. He was such an easygoing man, and his positivity was infectious. He will be missed by so many. His knowledge, handyman skills, extensive planning, and his countless stories were also what made him Jeff. Jeff was always willing to share his expertise and passions with others, whether it be dutch oven cooking, grilling, fishing, or anything to do with the many skills he had. His fish recipe was legendary after many years of experimenting and perfecting. Jeff was planning on retiring from CHS Northland Grain this summer, to go on even more adventures with family and friends.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Delores (Lamecker); his daughters, Angie (Blom) and Brian Chicos of Rochester,  Joann Blom and Cale Albers of Newfolden; grandchildren, Abigail, Corbin, and Bailey Chicos; granddogs, Jack and Copper; sister, EvVie (Jerry) Linscheid of Jackson; and nieces, Mindy (Travis) Schutte, Emily (Lee) Fothergill, Kelly Linscheid, and Ashley (Nathan) Miller.  He will be missed by many of his large extended family, which includes many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marlys Blom; and his in-laws, Otto and Dolores Lamecker.
Service of the Word was held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert officiating.
