Shawna Waldal, formerly of Plummer, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the age of 33.
Shawna Lee Waldal was born on April 29, 1988 in Milbank, SD, the daughter of Lori (Gunderson) Waldal and Robert Rowley Jr. She was raised in Plummer, by her mother and her second father, John Waldal. She attended RLCC in Plummer, graduating from Oklee High School in 2006.
Shawna blessed the world with three beautiful children: Tucker, Lexus, and Emmitt.
Shawna was a very vibrant, free spirit and full of life. Her smile could light up the world and her laughter was infectious. Shawna could usually be found trying to cheer others up, even when she was struggling. Shawna had a beautiful, creative mind that was reflected in the sketches and art she created. Shawna was never afraid to break traditional molds. She expressed her exuberant personality through her bold and adventurous style, frequently changing her hair; anywhere from blonde to blue and looking great doing it.
She had a love for art, music, animals, and the outdoors. Her greatest love was her family. Her most cherished moments as a child were times spent with her grandmothers – a week each summer with Grandma Lynn and after school time with Grandma Myrtle. After becoming a mother, time with her children was what she cherished most.
Shawna will be remembered as a beautiful and loving mother, daughter, and sister and will be missed greatly.
Shawna is survived by her children, Tucker, Lexus, and Emmitt; her parents, John and Lori Waldal of Thief River Falls, and Robert Rowley Jr. of Hillsboro, ND; siblings, Matt Waldal of Red Lake Falls, Mark Waldal of Roseau, Brittany Waldal of Sioux Falls, SD, and Wyatt Waldal of Newfolden; grandfather, James Pahl of Graceville; grandmother, Sharon Rowley of Roseau; nieces and nephews, Madilyn, Gavin, Kaydence, and Elle; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Lynnette Shaffer and Myrtle LaFayette; grandfathers, Alvin Waldal, Howard LaFayette, and Robert Rowley Sr; aunts, Beverly Waldal and Beatrice Larson; and cousins, Andy Waldal, Mercedes Rowley, Teja Beyer, and T.J. Perske.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Jonathon Dodson officiating. A private burial will take place in the spring at Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer.
