Thief River Falls – Elizabeth “Betty” Sjostrand, 70, Thief River Falls,  passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2022.
Elizabeth Ann Norman was born a twin to Bill on October 10, 1951, the daughter of Michael Lawrence II and Jeanne Delores (Scully) Norman. She was baptized into the Catholic faith in Crookston, and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. She attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class of 1969.
She worked several places in Thief River Falls throughout the years including St. Bernard’s Rectory, Arctic Cat, Valley Home, Best Western, IMS, ODC, and after retirement in 2012 Betty worked as a personal caretaker for an elderly couple.
On August 4, 1986 Betty was united in marriage to David Sjostrand in Sturgis, SD and they made their home in Thief River Falls.
Betty enjoyed traveling, visiting, baking, tending to her flowering plants, and was an avid reader. She had an interesting sense of humor, loved to watch her Westerns and old black and white TV shows, enjoyed taking care of her animals, and wasn’t afraid to try anything once, including bungee jumping. Her husband, kids and grandkids were her everything. She loved them dearly and they made her very happy.
Betty was a very kind, spiritual, caring, loving woman who will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Survivors include her husband, David of Thief River Falls; children, Christopher Michael Norman and Angela Jeanne Majeres; grandchildren, Rayne Riley Ann Norman, Shea Michael Norman, Reid Kenneth Norman, Ihle David Michael Majeres and Layla Elizabeth Louise Perrella; sister, Lynn (Ken) Rolandson; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Connie (Bill) Schroeder, Lawrence Michael Norman III, and William “Bill” Norman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls,  with Father Rick Lambert presiding.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Landstad Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls.
