Thief River Falls – Clifford Eggen, 89, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home in Thief River Falls, surrounded by his family.
Clifford Owen Eggen was born June 24, 1932 at Ada, the son of Norman and Myrtle (Tengesdal) Eggen. He was baptized at Ada, into the Christian faith. The family moved to a farm near Grygla, and Cliff attended the Goodridge School.
On July 8, 1954 Cliff was united in marriage to Doris Christianson and to this union three children were born: Kathy, Kaydell and Theresa. His life and family were his whole world!
In his early working years, Cliff worked in a logging camp and after moving to Grand Forks he worked paving at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. In the mid-1950s they made their home in Thief River Falls where Cliff worked at Northern Woodwork running molder and driving truck delivering millwork.
Cliff especially enjoyed working with his honeybees. He cared for 120 colonies and made special memories with his grandsons going to Texas to get the bees in the spring. Grandpa loved to keep in contact with his grandkids and would call simply to ask how the weather was, but really meaning how are you? Cliff was the kindest, gentlest man you would ever meet, who enjoyed the simplest thing in life such as picking blueberries, but the most precious things were his wife, Bible, and grandkids.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Doris of Thief River Falls; children, Kathy (Duane) Langness of Thief River Falls, Kaydell (Pat) Halling of Hawley, and Theresa (Ken) Witucki of Little Falls; grandchildren, Kelly Langness of Thief River Falls, Chris (Kelly) Langness of Phoenix, Arizona, Kayla Hammond of Barnsville, Travis (Jana) Halling of Hawley, Hannah (Tanner) Enger of Golden Valley, North Dakota and Sam Witucki of Little Falls; great-grandchildren, Paisyn, Huntley, Ayrrow, and Whityn Hammond, June and Dean Halling, Waylon, Tillie and Tessa Enger; sister, Joyce Brewster of Thief River Falls, and Marcie and Gordy Moe of Grygla; including his granddog Rubi; and many other relatives and friends; the newest being Clyde Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Jed Brewster; sister-in-law, Edna Johnson; and other relatives and friends.
Clifford Eggen died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 30 days.
