Thief River Falls – Dennis Pederson, 80, of Thief River Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Dennis John Pederson was born March 21, 1942 in Thief River Falls, the son of Ingvard and Margaret (Skomedahl) Pederson. He attended country school in Excel Township of Marshall County and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class of 1960.
On August 25, 1968 Dennis was united in marriage to Ruth Peterson at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Anchorage, Alaska for twelve years where they raised their three children, Steven, Shawna and Shelli. While in Alaska, Dennis worked construction on school buildings and he also was a welder making conduit cages.
The family returned to Thief River Falls where Dennis worked at Forsberg’s for a couple of years, then twenty years as a school bus driver for the Thief River Falls School District and retired from Digi-Key.
Dennis loved auction sales, reading, collecting and talking about old cars, had a great sense of humor with an endless supply of jokes and he loved to laugh. Dennis loved nature and enjoyed feeding the deer and birds.
Dennis enjoyed attending the Evangelical Free Church and Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. At the age of 26, Dennis was saved and baptized as an adult at the Mountain Baptist Church in Anchorage. Dennis’ faith was very important to him, and he dedicated his life to serving the Lord!
Survivors include his loving children, Steven Pederson of Thief River Falls, Shawna (Jim) Aman of Highlands Ranch, CO and Shelli (Shannon) Henrickson of Park Rapids; four grandchildren, Calvin Pederson, Hally, Colby and Kenzi Aman; sister, Carmen (Larry) Gustafson of Thief River Falls; mother of his children and wife of 46 years, Ruth of Highlands Ranch, CO; nieces and nephew, Stacy (Steve) Bierman, Susan (Joe) Blackbird, and Tony (Sanna) Gustafson; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Graveside service with family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Silver Creek Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, with Pastor Kent Hudson officiating.
