Margaret Mattson, 71

Fridley – Margaret Mary Mattson, 71, of Fridley, died peacefully June 25, 2022 at Epiphany Assisted Living in Coon Rapids.
Maggie was born December 26, 1950 in Crookston, to Ernest and Noella (Derosier) Delorme. She was a graduate of Thief River Falls High School and also attended one year of secretarial school.
Margaret married Dennis Mattson on July 18, 1970 and she and Denny raised Jeannie and Jim in Gilbert, and shared 33 years of marriage. Maggie had a home daycare and worked at the Gilbert Herald and St. Louis County Public Health Department for many years before moving to Fridley to live with her brother, Mike and his partner, Tom.
While living in the Twin Cities, Maggie served lunch at The Church of the Epiphany and worked for her niece and nephew-in-law, Tami and Will O’Hara, at their salon. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert and The Church of the Epiphany in Coon Rapids where she volunteered often and was a Eucharistic minister with her niece, Cindy.
Maggie was a member of the Gilbert VFW Women’s Auxiliary, loved to read, was a hard worker, an avid cleaner, a wonderful cake maker, and loved her family. Maggie was guided by her Catholic faith, and she enjoyed helping those around her.
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Jeannie (Michael) Collins of Savage; her son, Jim (Sarah) Mattson of Excelsior; her grandchildren, Brock Collins, Briana Collins, Joe Mattson, and Grace Mattson; her brothers, Roy (Evelyn) of Venice, FL; Richard (Cindy) of St. Cloud; Russell of Moorhead; Mike of Fridley; her sister, Marlys Millner of Hastings; and several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents; and her siblings, Ronald and Suzanne.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of the Epiphany, 1900 111th Ave. NW, Coon Rapids, MN with a private burial in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery in Thief River Falls, at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
