Thief River Falls – Janet Jean Hoffard, 73, of Thief River Falls, died suddenly on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her residence.
On January 17, 1949 Janet was born to Norman and Iva (Morvig) Broske in Fosston. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Janet was raised in Winger, where she attended elementary school; she graduated from McIntosh High School in 1967.
On October 19, 1968 Janet Broske was united in marriage to Lowell Hoffard at Calvary Lutheran Church, Winger. Lowell was in the United States Air Force, and the family moved to Germany in 1969, where Timothy was born. They returned to McIntosh, where they lived until 1974 when they moved to Thief River Falls. Janet began working at the Medical Center in Thief River Falls for 50-plus years, where she was employed until she passed.
Family meant the world to Janet, as she loved her children, grandchildren, siblings, family, and friends. Gathering with her family for meals, activities, holidays, and school events kept her busy. Going to Breezy Point to see her favorite Elvis impersonator was a great time. Her personality was always in a good mood, caring, loving, helping, and nurturing family, friends, and her patients. She was a “genuine soul!”
Baking, Bingo, and Left Right Center dice games were things she enjoyed doing.
Janet is survived by her children, Timothy (Cassandra) of Savage, Tony (Shelli) of Mentor, Daniel (Laura) of Breezy Point, Jason (Veronica) of Lonsdale, and Melissa Davis of Park Rapids; grandchildren, Nicholas, Bailee, Brady, Ian, Kylee, Tristen, Grace, Toby, Estela, Joaquin, Javier Hoffard, Olivia, Laila, Jaden Davis; siblings, Sylvia (Myron) McCollum of Bejou, Patricia Brown of Eagan, Roy Broske of Northfield, and Gordon (Sharon) Broske of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Linda (David) Ward of Erskine; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; parents, Norman and Iva Broske; and sister, Karen Uecker.
