Argyle – Tina Kostrzewski, 56 of Argyle, formerly of Strandquist, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Cedar South Group Home with her loving family and caregivers by her side.
Tina Marie Kostrzewski was born weighing 2 pounds 11 1/2 ounces, on May 19, 1966 in Warren, the daughter of Edmund and Maxine (Johnson) Kostrzewski, she was a true miracle child. She was baptized into the Catholic faith. She grew up on a farm in West Valley Township, just south of Strandquist. Tina began school in Strandquist and then completed her schooling in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1987 in the TMH Program.
In 1986, Tina began living at the home of the Larry and Doreen Sigerud family. The Sigerud family provided a loving, caring home for Tina and others with special needs. Tina resided at their home until 2020 when she moved to the Cedar South Group Home in Argyle, where she lived out her life. The family is grateful for the wonderful care and kindness of both the Sigerud Family and Cedar South Group Home caregivers and staff.
Tina worked at the ODC in Thief River Falls for several years and later worked at the Falls DAC in Thief River Falls. Tina had many wonderful caregivers and friends throughout the years of her employment.
Tina loved fashion, the more sparkle the better, she made a point to dress nice every day and then let everyone know how cute she was! Wherever there was music Tina loved to get up and dance. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and calling out the letters. Whenever they were spinning the wheel, she would say go, go, go! Tina was a big cheerleader for the Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR. She loved spending trips to the lake with sisters with golfcart rides, trips to the lodge and occasional pull tab opening yielded a lot of “Whoops!” Tina enjoyed going on outings, riding in the Group Home van, looking at the scenery while being a “backseat driver.” Always letting the driver know when they hit a bump too hard.
When she met babies, her oh’s and ah’s showed Tina’s kindness and love. If the world could be measured by Tina’s kind soul, what a different world we would be living in.
Tina enjoyed FOOD, (like most of us) her favorites being: mashed potatoes, gravy, pancakes covered in syrup, chicken strips, everything with ketchup and she loved her sweets. Tina loved the chocolates her sisters would bring her, keeping her dresser drawer stocked. She had favorite sayings, “no way”, “I’m good”, “what?”, or “dang it!”
Tina enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and was proud of all of her medals she earned through- out the years. Summer Camp was always so enjoyable for Tina and also going to church where she loved the music and she loved to sing along. Cranking the radio as loud as possible when she was sitting in the front seat and singing to the tunes playing.
Survivors include her siblings, Clyde (Kathleen “Norie” Christofferson) Kostrzewski of Middle River, Luella (Ron) Long of Apache Junction, AZ, Lorraine Anderson of Roseau, Bev (Jerry) Rux of Strandquist, Edmund Kostrzewski Jr. of Shephardsville, KY, Mary (Roger) Hill of Montevideo; step-mother, Evelyn Kostrzewski of Thief River Falls; and all of her family; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters in infancy, Jane and Loretta; brother in-law, Neil Anderson; and sister in-law, Bonnie Kostrzewski.
The service to celebrate Tina’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Edward’s Cemetery, rural Strandquist.
