Roberts, WI – Harry Curtis Ness, age 81, of Roberts, Wisconsin, formerly of Thief River Falls, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022 surrounded by family at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Curt was born on April 15, 1941 in Thief River Falls to Harry and Mabel Ness. He attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. After high school, he joined the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Curt was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Dicken, in 1964 and together they were blessed with three children, Mary, Allan, and Jennifer.
He worked as a truck driver hauling feed before taking a supervisor position at the Occupational Development Center in Thief River Falls.
Family was the most important thing to Curt. He always gave the best advice to his children and grandchildren and loved watching them succeed in sports and outdoor activities. You always knew he was cheering you on.
He loved hunting and fishing with his son and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Curt could often be found at the Rusty Nail or his basement playing pool with friends and family. He was passionate about sports and loved to coach, ref and play hockey and slow pitch softball.
Harry will remain in the hearts of his wife of 58 years, Bonnie; his children, Mary Ellen (Steve) Melby, Allan (Linda) Ness, and Jennifer (Cliff) Van Steenvoort; grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, Mitchell, Trevor, Christian, and Hayden; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Samuel, Emily, Curtis, and Malayn; sister, Lois Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mabel Ness; and siblings, Maverette, Loren, and Arlys.
A memorial service for Curt will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a meal directly after the service at Ready Randy’s from 3-5 p.m. Family suggests memorials be given to ASPCA or the local food shelf.
