Plummer – Marvin Engesether, Plummer, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at North Dakota Veterans Hospital, Fargo, ND, with his loving family by his side.
Marvin Engesether was born January 13, 1938 at home in Lesser Township, Polk County, the son of Ervin and Bernice (Marsenette) Engesether. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, located north of McIntosh. He attended the Wide Awake School in Winger for 8 years. He graduated from NW School of Agriculture, Crookston, in 1955.
He served his country with the United States Air Force from January 1956 until his honorable discharge on October 22, 1957. He then returned to the Winger area and farmed with his dad.
In 1961, Marvin was united in marriage to Judith Johnson and to this union two children were born, Julie and Jeffrey.
Marvin quit farming in 1959 and moved to Spring Lake Park, where he was employed as a carpenter for the next 32 years. In 1979, he bought the locker plant in Plummer, which he owned and operated for the next 20 years, and then went back to construction work.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Winger, and most recently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, a life member of Plummer Sportsman’s Club, President of the Community Club, President of the Lions Club and Commander of American Legion Post #623. Marvin enjoyed working, hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Julie Dulka, Red Lake Falls, and Jeff, Plummer; grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Pierce, Elizabeth (Mike) Lopez and Josh Dulka; great-grandchildren, Sophie Nicole, Nora Mae, Kyson Sivert, Tahlen Tyler Blake, Leila Rose, Tatem Kathleen, Kadince; brothers, LeRoy Engesether, Bemidji, and Robert (Christine) Engesether, Fridley; and sister, Sharon (Todd) Riggles, Denver, CO; and many other relatives and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by wife, Judy on October 27, 1999; parents; sister, June Versdahl; and brothers, Alan Engesether and Gerald Engesether.
Visitation will be held from 4–6 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 with a 5:30 p.m. Prayer Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
The funeral service to celebrate Marvin’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, with Reverend Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will be at Winger Cemetery next to his wife Judith. Military honors will be provided by the Plummer American Legion Post and United States Air Force Honor Guard.
