Thief River Falls – Leonilla (Lee) Schey, 98, Thief River Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Karlstad Senior Living, Karlstad.
Leonilla Marie Anderson was born September 21, 1924 in New Ulm, to Edward and Emilie (Reinhart) Anderson of rural Gibbon. She lived on the Anderson family homestead until 1930 when the family moved to St. Paul,. She attended grade school, high school and Globe Business School in St. Paul.
Lee worked at Montgomery Ward for 20 years, Union Brass & Metal, and Power/mation until retiring in 1989.
She married Orville Schey on March 26, 1977 at North Heights Lutheran Church in Roseville. They lived in Maplewood until moving to Thief River Falls in June 1999. Orville Schey passed away in June 2002. Lee and Orville loved to travel and talk about the places they had visited. She was also very proud of their gardening skills with the many flowers and trees they grew.
She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Brethren Church, Homemakers, Christian Women, Sons of Norway, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded by her parents; brother, Milton; husbands, Leslie Nelson and Orville Schey. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Verna Rood, Delores Linder, and Beverly Borsvold as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service to celebrate Lee’s life will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Reverend George Davis officiating. Burial will be at Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
