Plummer – Marlys Diane Maki of Plummer, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Marlys Diane Meyer was born on November 25, 1944 at Plummer, daughter of the Alpen and Lucille (Lafayette) Meyer. She was raised on a farm a few miles south of Plummer and attended school at Pershing High School graduating the class of 1962.
Marlys met and married Bill Greenhalgh and had two sons, William and John. The couple made their home in Crookston for five years. Following their divorce in 1969, she married John Maki. They moved to Minneapolis where they had a daughter Angie. In 1973 they moved back to Plummer where she continued to live since.
Marlys enjoyed gardening, feeding wild birds, shopping, going out to eat and riding her horse Chancy when she was younger. She was also a huge fan of Donald Trump and enjoyed political debates whenever she could engage in them. But most of all, she loved and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Marlys is survived by her children, William (Rebecca) Maki of Gentilly, John Maki of Michigan, ND and Angie (Mark) Wright of Plummer; grandchildren, Joshua (Hannah Miller) Maki, Megan (fiancé Tanner Morehouse) Maki, Haley (Ethan) Mercil, and Devin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Chloe Maki, Payton Maki, Thea Maki, Norah Maki, Kaden Mercil and Knox Mercil; siblings, Karen (Bud) Burthwick, Jeanine (Randy) Pahlen; and several nieces and nephews.
Marlys is preceded in death by her parents, Alpen and Lucille; and brother, Jim (Joanne) Meyer.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, with Reverend Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will be held at Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
