Elk River – Alec Henrickson, 40, of Elk River passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
Alec Joe Henrickson entered the world on May 1, 1982, at the Northwestern Hospital in Thief River Falls, the son of Sherri (Jagol) Cowell and Randy Henrickson. Growing up, Alec was involved in numerous activities. Throughout elementary and high school Alec was involved in theater in Goodridge, Winsted and Warroad where he had many lead roles. He participated in football and basketball and was involved in the student council. Alec was very proud when he was awarded the prestigious Triple A Award his senior year. Alec moved to Brooklyn, NY from Goodridge, and was in for a huge culture shock. Alec had lived in New York for about two weeks when 9/11 occurred. A guardian angel was with him that day because he would have started working at a men’s clothing store the next day in one of the towers.
Alec graduated from the New York Culinary School of Arts in March of 2002, he then moved back to Minnesota. He worked for various restaurants in the Twin Cities area. Alec and Lucy met in Minneapolis at Gastoffs where they both were employed. Alec and Lucy were married on July 14, 2012, in Elk River.
Alec owned the Pompeii Pizzeria in Elk River and enjoyed competing in international pizza expos. Alec was named a first-place winner at the March 2016 Pizza Expo in Las Vegas with his winning creation of his Francesca’s Glaze Pizza. He won in the non-traditional category in the northwest region division of the contest and was among the eight finalists for best non-traditional pizza in the world.
