Warren – Douglas Harris Gloude was born on February 22, 1929, in Cavalier, North Dakota, and passed away peacefully at North Star Manor in Warren on the evening of February 27, 2023, entering into the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Doug grew up in Cavalier before moving to Warren in 1945. He graduated from Warren High School in 1947. Doug met Doris Mae Anderson through the Red River Valley Young People’s church picnics. It was love at first car ride! Doug served in the US Army from January of 1951 until October of 1952 and was a Korean War veteran.
Doug and Doris were married August 9, 1952, and made their home in Warren where they raised their four children. They had celebrated 64 years of marriage before Doris passed away on January 12, 2017. Warren Covenant has been their church home where they worshipped and enjoyed serving and being involved in a variety of ministries through the years. Doug was especially involved in music as a soloist, in addition to choir, quartets and worship team, plus he always enjoyed listening to his collection of spiritual and classical music albums. Doug worked for Silnes Motors and Nelson Motors, both of Warren, over the years. He was the Ford Area Service Manager of the Year in 1978. Doug was a member of the Warren Lions for many years. Doug enjoyed many activities including motorcycling, hunting, bowling, being a transport driver for the county, fixing things and attending children’s/grandchildren’s activities. He was also ready to help others whenever a need arose.
Doug was raised by godly parents who instilled in him the understanding of the need for a saving faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and a reverence for and devotion to the Lord. His faith permeated all areas of his life, including business matters and all relationships. Doug never compromised his biblical convictions, and he shared his wisdom with his children, helping them understand how to navigate life decisions. Even in his last months and days of life, he found peace in prayer, reading his Bible and glorifying his savior, especially in the tune and words of an old familiar hymn. He was ready to go “home” and spend eternity with his Lord and Savior.
Left to celebrate his life are his children, Donavon (Kiki) Gloude of Chaska, MN, Delsie (Alan) Baxter of Minneapolis, MN and David (Keely) Gloude of Ladera Ranch, CA; eight grandchildren, Chelsey, Ian (Chaley), Colin, Daniel, Karli, Emma, Aleck and Gavin; and great-grandchildren, Oliver, Isabella, Violet, Oaklan and Sage.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Rose (Deck) Gloude; wife, Doris Mae and son, Duan Edward Gloude.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Warren Covenant Church with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Memorials may be designated to either Covenant World Relief or the Warren Covenant Church.
