Sharron Olberg, 84

Holt – Sharron Olberg, 84, of Holt, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharron LaVonne Wegge was born July 14, 1939 at home on the family farm in Holt Township the daughter of Walter and Helen (Timm) Wegge. She was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Sharron attended Holt Elementary School and graduated from Newfolden High School.
On September 29, 1956, Sharron was united in marriage to Myron Olberg at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. To this union four children were born, Jeffrey, RaChelle, Roxanne and Valerie. The couple lived in Middle River, Holt, Brainerd and Anoka.
Sharron was very proud to be home with her children while they were growing. She also worked at the Twin Cities Ammunition Plant.
In 1972 the family returned to the Wegge Family Homestead near Holt, where they continued to reside. In 1974 Sharron enrolled into the Cosmetology Program at the Area Vocational Technical Institute in Thief River Falls. Following her graduation, Sharron worked for various hairdressers in the area. In 1978, Sharron set up her own business salon which she called Sharron’s Style Salon. She owned and operated the business until 1992 when she retired for health reasons.
Sharron was an avid flower gardener, crocheting towels, and she made an afghan for every grandchild. She enjoyed watching Westerns on TV. She was very artistic; she had a talent with the eyes when she did a figurine. Sharron and Myron enjoyed fishing at Lake of the Woods, wintering in Arizona for many years and visiting family during their travels.
Her faith was very important to Sharron. She was a long-time member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and active with the Mary Circle.
On August 18, 2022 Sharron moved to the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls. The family greatly appreciated the love and care provided by the wonderful staff at the Thief River Care Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Survivors include her loving children, Jeffrey (Sharlott) Olberg of Holt, RaChelle (Don) Foster of Hibbing, Roxanne (Craig) Dunrud of Viking, and Valerie (Cory) Nelson of Annandale; grandchildren, Braden Olberg, Brandeis Olberg, Brittney (Ira Johnson) Olberg, Aaron Foster, Alex (Tatum) Foster, Brock (Mindy) Dunrud, Miranda (Austin) Knoll, Adam (Mary) Nelson, Rachel (Sam) Goldson; great-grandchildren, Katlin, Jaelah, Khyron, Zeus, Evan, Kaden, Rainah, Samiah, Aubree, Juliea, Addilynn, Felix, Baylie, Brycen, Taylor, Chase, Henry; great-great-grandchildren, Maxine, Prudence, Lucille; sister, Bonita “Bonnie” Elseth of Crookston; sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Gerald) Gillund, Kathleen “Norie” Christopherson (Clyde), Fran Olberg and Barb Olberg; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Myron on November 3, 2012; parents; and siblings, Sylvia (Arnold) Dyrdal, Fern (Lloyd) Johnson, George (Clara) Wegge, Adeline (Jack) Luger, Evelyn (Ralph) Jorgenson, Jean (Don) Landree, Carol (Art Palmer) (James), and Lawrence in infancy; brothers and sister-in-law, Erlyn Olberg, Darold Olberg, Sharon (Roger) Kilen, Roger (Renae) Olberg, Carolyn Ruud, Wallace (Elaine Soll) Olberg, and Marvin Christopherson.
The service to celebrate Sharron’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt with Rev. Sheila Michaels officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Holt Cemetery.
