Plummer – Goodwin Kvasager of Plummer, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 89.
Goodwin Kvasager was born on February 27, 1934 in Equality Township, the son of Ole and Kathrine (Mandt) Kvasager. He was baptized on May 13, 1934 and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee on June 26, 1949. Goodwin graduated from Oklee High School on May 21, 1952.
On November 6, 1954 Goodwin was united in marriage to Lucille Mahla. Together they made their home in the Plummer area and raised their children, Mark, Terry, and Janet.
For 35 years (1955 until 1990 when he retired), Goodwin was employed by Red Lake County as a blade operator.
Goodwin enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice for coffee, working on his old tractors, going to auctions with his brother Einar, and most of all, visiting with everyone.
Goodwin served as a past Lions member and was a life member of the Tri-River Museum.
Goodwin is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille of Plummer; children, Mark (Carly) Kvasager of Terrebonne, Terry (Patty) Kvasager of Plummer, and Janet (Charlie) Hebert of Excelsior; grandchildren, Ben (Amber) Kvasager, Katie (Ben) Musburger, and Kristen (Josh) LaMunyon; great-grandchildren, Graceyn and Brynley Kvasager and Claire and Harrison Musburger; sisters, Anne Manthei, Gerda Koskela, and Helga Nissen; sister-in-law, Carol Kvasager; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Kathrine; brothers, Ole Jr., Bjarne (Viola), Otto (Donna), Arne, and Einar; twin sister, Annie; brothers-in-law, Milton Manthei, Arlan Koskela, and Morrie Nissen.
Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, with Rev. Jonathon Dodson officiating. Burial followed at Emmardville Cemetery, rural Plummer.
