Newfolden – Milo James Windahl, 87, of Newfolden, died on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
On September 13, 1935, Milo was born to Conrad and Nellie (Lausness) Windahl in Warren. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Newfolden. Milo attended Fairview Country School, Marsh Grove Township. He worked on the family farm with his family. In 1958 Milo briefly served in the United States Army and was medically discharge due a chronic back concern.
On May 30, 1959 Milo was united in marriage to Darlyne Hallick at Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Newfolden. They lived in Thief River Falls for five years before Milo and Darlyne bought the family farm from his parents. In addition to farming, he worked at the American Crystal Sugar plant in Drayton, ND for 29 years. They continued to farm until retiring. Milo and Darlyne moved to Warren.
Milo is survived by his wife, Darlyne, Warren; daughter, Debra (Garth) Unke, Waconia; daughter-in-law, Brenda Windahl, Hawley; 3 grandchildren: Brittany (Andrew Loewe) Windahl, Katharin (Ryan) Unke Smith, and Joshua (fiancé Sarah Valoe) Unke; 9 great-grandchildren; cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Milo was preceded in death by his son, Wayne; grandson, Jeremy; great-grandson, Burke; parents, Conrad and Nellie Windahl.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., Westaker Free Lutheran Church, Newfolden.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, Westaker Free Lutheran Church, Newfolden.
Burial will be at Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Newfolden.
