Thief River Falls – Eddie Severson, 65, of Thief River Falls passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND with his loving daughters by his side.
Eddie DeWayne Severson was born on May 8, 1958, at the Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts the son of Palmer and June (Hams) Severson. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith. He attended schools in Colorado, Strandquist and Karlstad.
Eddie worked various jobs over the years, primarily in Thief River Falls at Northwest Medical Center as an Orderly, and at the Best Western and Seven Clans Casino in the Maintenance Department. Eddie retired in 2020 at the age of 62 years old and he thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
Eddie loved music! He often said that music was his life and there is nothing that music cannot cure because there is a song for everything! He was the lead singer for the former bands Zero Tolerance and Point Blank. Eddie would just break out into songs whether it was to himself or for an audience. He loved to have the windows down in his truck to play his music loud for everyone to hear or simply to let you know he had arrived. Attending area music festivals was something Eddie looked forward to every year.
Eddie was an easy-going, fun-loving guy who had lots of friends! He had a natural ability to make people smile, laugh, and feel comfortable. He dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was their protector, always looked forward to spending time with them, and was his grandchildren’s biggest fan at any sporting event or activity. Another huge part of his life was his dogs, Abby, and Maggie. He loved them so much and spoiled them.
Eddie was a super fan of the Minnesota Vikings, attending home openers and tailgating every year. He was recently Knighted into the VWO (Viking World Order) as “Sir Cosmo,” an honor he was very excited about.
Eddie enjoyed playing golf with friends and was very involved in the Karlstad Country Club. Playing sports in his early years included basketball, softball, bowling and ice fishing. He also enjoyed coaching basketball when his girls were in school. For over a decade, Eddie has spent his evenings gaming and developing friendships through Xbox Live. He also enjoyed dumplings at the Viking Diner on Fridays and eating at Biff’s Kitchen in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Amanda (Keith Neadeau Jr.) Severson and Amber Severson; grandchildren, Kiana, Karson, Callie; niece, Tiffany Severson and her son, Mason; mother-in-law, Maxine Holmstrom; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Randy) Nelson, Renee (Jim) Nelson, Brenda (Jeff) Poe; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Debra Severson; infant son, Jeremy; parents; brother, Dan Severson; sister, Belinda Severson; father-in-law, Donald Holmstrom; niece, Brooklyn Poe; nephews, Chad Nelson, and Troy Severson.
