Thief River Falls – Paulette Faye Grindeland, 80, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side.
Paulette Faye Larson was born April 21, 1943 in Longview, WA, the daughter of Leonard and Alice (Sorenson) Larson. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking, confirmed at Viking Covenant Church and was a past member of Viking Covenant Church, Viking, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She attended elementary school in Viking, except for one year, in 4th grade, when the family moved to Kelso, WA. They moved back to Viking and Paulette finished grade school in Viking, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1961.
In June of 1961 she started working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Thief River Falls as a Telephone Operator. She worked in Thief River Falls for two years before transferring to Grand Forks, ND. Paulette returned to Thief River Falls and worked 30 ½ years for Northwestern Bell, retiring in 1992. She began working for Johnson Funeral Service in 1992 and retired in 2012.
Paulette was united in marriage to Thales “Babe” Grindeland on March 23, 1968 in Minneapolis, and they made their home in Thief River Falls where they lived their entire life. To this union two wonderful sons were born, Darrin and Wade.
Paulette enjoyed shopping, reading, watching movies and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Chandler, Kadin, Tucker and Katelyn. God and her family were very important to her. She attended Community Church in Thief River Falls.
Paulette is survived by her husband, Thales “Babe” of Thief River Falls; son, Wade (Christi) Grindeland of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren, Chandler, Kadin, Tucker and Katelyn; one sister, Kay Maidment of Thief River Falls; and one brother, Bruce (Doreen) Larson of Pillager; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darrin Grindeland; parents, Alice and Leonard Larson; her mother-in-law and father-in law, Gert and Clarence Grindeland; brother-in-law, Keith Maidment; and several aunts and uncles.
The Funeral Service was held at 5 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, Sunday October 1, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Pastor Ollie Urdahl officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
